• Francis Newton Souza also known as F.N. Souza is an Indian artist who is also the founding member of Progressive Artists' Group of Bombay. He is also the first post-independence Indian artist to attain high recognition the West.
• Vasudeo S. Gaitonde is reputed for his abstract art.
• Amrita Sher-Gil is a distinguished Indian painter who is today considered to be an important woman painter of 20th-century. Her legacy is at par with that of the Masters of the Bengal Renaissance.
• Subodh Gupta is based in New Delhi and was born in Khagaul, Patna. His specialty includes brass sculptures.
• Maqbool Fida Husain is popularly known as MF Husain. He struggled a lot in the initial days of his career; today his paintings average a staggering 2 million dollars. Back in 2010, he had been offered the honorary citizenship of Qatar.
